Pervasive IT is an umbrella of collaborative IT capabilities that provide various services characterized by mobility, wireless connectivity, context awareness, implicit inputs (including user intent), smart spaces (an environment that interacts with users and devices), and the use of natural interfaces for human-device interaction.
The drivers of pervasive IT research are:
The Convergence Center of Excellence (CoE) at SETLabs, Infosys' research group, pursues multiple R&D projects in pervasive computing. The CoE's research agenda adopts a gradual increase in the degree of pervasiveness of an IT infrastructure.
The CoE focuses on aggregating distributed data points and upcoming mobile platforms to ensure seamless and secure access to enterprise applications, as shown in Fig. 1.

Enterprise Mobility
Focuses on helping enterprises effectively leverage mobility solutions while addressing the unique challenges posed by the environment. Research is undertaken on several key mobile technology issues like intermittent network connectivity, constrained device resources, diversified device capabilities and content adaptation.
Pervasive Computing
Enables businesses to operate successfully in the pervasive IT domain. It provides distraction-free (invisible) interaction between the user and the IT infrastructure and enables the environment to collaborate with the user in performing the tasks at hand more effectively.
Wireless Sensor Networks
Provides a collaborative computing platform to innovate using wireless mechanisms. It seamlessly integrates business logic with voluminous data points from the underlying infrastructure.
